DONATIONS FOR THE YEAR END 2022
Now that Give it Away is not currently building houses, donated funds are being earned from rental property. So while we’re not as busy as we normally would be, we’re still making regular donations to the charities we support. Here are some of the latest.
The January 3rd lunch with Charlotte and Chris Hickford, CEO of Eikon is now a tradition but the pink cheque was not so this was another lovely “surprise” moment!
Mentoring and youth support for young people is becoming sadly more and more urgent and necessary and these donations support this.
Intervention is seen as a key tool in preventing steep declines in welfare, mental health, education and anxiety issues resulting in all manner of serious problems for youngsters, and Give it Away’s support understands this.
Charlotte herself, is now on the mentoring programme for young people and can see first hand the kind of problems Eikon are trying to address.
This Charity supports families with children up to their late teens with life limiting disabilities where there is often low income and a single parent or carer.
The current cost of living crisis impacts these families hugely and Give it Away is always happy to continue its support for them.
Vicky and Charlotte had another entertaining lunch together particularly since the donation was a Christmas surprise!
Charlotte and Vicky met for a Christmas Lunch and to discuss their plans for 2023.
The donation will go as before to Avon Tryell in the New Forest, Hampshire – a beautiful Grade 1 listed building in extensive grounds where they can provide weekends of challenge, fun, family bonding, adventure and excitement for less able children in a safe and welcoming country environment.
We will be visiting there in the Spring!
The first Christmassy donation in December turned into a two occasion photo shoot and two envelopes for double the pleasure!
Sean and Charlotte met in Putney by the Christmas Tree and again on her doorstep watched over by Ellie the Elephant who was herself an “auction” purchase from a Back Up Event!
Give it Away will continue to help the exceptionally valuable mentoring this Charity provides to those dealing for the first time with a spinal cord injury, facing great upheaval in their lives as they adapt to new and sometimes difficult mobility issues.
Give it Away has helped with some of the older age groups – imagine a home/sport/road traffic accident in your 50’s which leaves you unable to walk and wheel chair dependant? The whole family needs support and these donations help to provide that.
Charlotte visited one of Home Start’s social Hub sessions in Tooting being run at a Church Hall where mothers and their children can all get together.
This is such an important meeting place for those who are struggling with young children under 5, maybe with low incomes, housing and domestic issues.
This amazing centre has a wonderful café who provided us lunch and drinks and offers these families a welcoming place for chat, support and socialising once a month.
Give it Away’s donation will help provide many more sessions like this and as you can see, it was fun playing with the babies!
There was also a cheque at the St Ann’s annual Christmas Concert in Wandsworth which will help to continue the mentoring support they need.
It was lovely to give a donation at such a special event and in another Church environment.
Charlotte was invited to the 2022 Christmas Carol Concert at St Clement Danes, London by The Meath Epilepsy Charity based in Goldalming, Surrey.
This very special annual event is much enhanced by the rousing music of The Honourable Artillery Company Band and the powerful voices of St Clement Danes Choir.
The Meath’s own choir also joined in the festivities and we, in the congregation, had a chance to sing along to some “happy clappy” carols!
It is very special to be in such a beautiful Church magnificently decorated for Christmas and to have military ushers in full uniform from the Army Reservists, take such good care of us guests.
Lucy and Charlotte found time for the “surprise” Christmas donation which will help residents at The Meath access valuable physio sessions to enhance their mobility and physical well being.
Congratulations to them for such a splendid and successful evening!
