EIKON

Give it Away has supported Eikon for many years now and on a recent visit they charted the donations they have received over time.

As the statistics in lovely, green, leafy, Surrey continue to concern people with high levels of child abuse, teenage isolation and loneliness, education disruption, addiction issues and parenting problems, Eikon continues its intense level of support where most needed. Through mentoring at crucial stages in young people’s development, they are able to control and deflect issues for the future at the right time – as they say “we want to be the rescue party at the top of the cliff, not the ambulance at the bottom”.

This donation will support their “High Five”  initiative which isan early intervention programme delivered in schools in Surrey for children in year 4 and year 5 (ages 8-10) to support their wellbeing. The course runs for six weeks and supports children who are identified by the school as having low emotional resilience and who would benefit from learning a range of techniques to better cope with difficulties such as unhelpful thoughts and low self-esteem. Each child receives a booklet which has helpful exercises to complete and strategies to support what they learn in the six week course.

Charlotte and Chris (CEO) took time out to open a pink envelope over a cool glass in high summer, the contents of which will support their ongoing mentoring programmes.
