Charlotte visited an Actionnaires Club, part of the RNIB at a leisure centre in Teddington recently and donated £20,000 to support two London based clubs. She also saw Goal Ball in action and took part in a game led by Louis from Art 2 Movement art2movement.com
Charlotte, met the young participants and their families as they competed by throwing a ball, with bells embedded in it, towards the opponents’ goal said: “I love coming to Actionnaires events – I always learn something new and I am in awe of the sports activities these young people undertake, proving to themselves and others that sight loss should never be a barrier to fun or achievement.
Joining in with the children brings home why Action for Blind People is such a worthy cause to support. Many of the children don’t get to participate in sport at all outside of their Actionnaires club. I’m delighted that Give it Away’s support means they will continue to have opportunities to try exciting and fun activities; making friends and boosting their confidence.”
Harry Meade, who accepted the donation on behalf of the charity said: “We’re extremely grateful to Charlotte and her team at Give it Away. This money will make such a positive difference to children with sight loss throughout the Capital.”
