Charlotte first met GASP at Funding Network event at The Lighthouse in Woking, and Give It Away gave a donation to their project. Following a meeting with Andy Finch at a Surrey Chamber of Commerce event, Charlotte visited GASP at ‘The Sand Pit’!
In an impressive purpose-built hanger, GASP offer short-term apprenticeships in the motor mechanics industry to young people who are disengaged with education. The hanger was full of old cars and engines, where young people receive instruction from qualified mechanics on the basics of engine maintenance.
After a six week course GASP are able to offer references to education and employers – this work experience often has a very positive effect on their overall education.
